And that interior! I honestly don't care if it has a CVT, I really like the way it looks.

The grille looks like beaver teeth.

The interior really does look quite nice. The exterior is clearly trying too hard...but at least its not boring.

I wish more cars had flat bottom steering wheels

This and the new Murano.

That having been said...The elephant man had looks that weren't boring either.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've always had a soft spot for Nissans. Before I bought my Fusion, I had a 2010 Sentra SR, metallic blue, with the CVT. At the time I first got it, I hated the CVT. But as I drove it more and more, I got used to it and eventually came to like it. It was an amazingly fun little car to drive and I miss it dearly now. But I have to have the Fusion for hauling kids around. Fitting two car seats in a Nissan Sentra just wasn't going to happen. So this new Maxima is the perfect combination. Everything I love about Nissans, but in the large family sedan form that still has that sporty look/feel to it.

Large fwd sedans just don't excite me. Also the throttle and transmission calibrations on CVT Nissans I've had as rental cars have been garbage.
Maybe someday I will find myself owning and driving a fwd sedan. Actually, nahhhhh. I'm already 32 and I haven't learned to buy practical vehicles yet, so I don't think I'm going to start anytime soon.

Actually so do I.
I might be a bit bias, since I own a 2014 pathfinder.
I was the last guy in the world who wanted a CVT, but in the pathfinder it just works. If the Maxima, has the same 3.5 V6 and same CVT it should be like a rocket
Passing is incredible , behind a transport truck going 55-60 mph, when i floor it I'm past 100mph when I am right beside the trucks cab.
smooth constant acceleration, only problem is you can't gauge your speed by engine noise.

My sentra is actually kinda nice for it's age. Nissan isn't bad. I wish it was leather, the sr20det instead of the ga16de, and RWD, but still nice for $500.

I'm glad I was born when I was, I don't like the looks of any new cars. If I was born a few years ago I wouldn't be into cars.

Looks quite Kia Optima with a Nissan grille.
That said. I do like both of them (well all three, I like the Nissan QashQai too).

"A Kia Optima with a Nissan grille"
That's probably why I like it, actually. I've always had a thing for the Kia Optima.

They are both unashamedly about comfort with their large size and slightly less practical than a hatchback or an estate. Sort of Asian Jaguar.
Before anyone else adds. Yes I know Jaguar Land Rover is owned by Tata and Tata are Indian and India is of course on the Asian continent. I meant in style rather than country of parent owner nationality.

The interior is pretty good. The outside...vomit...vomit everywhere.

Yeah, as of late, Nissans have actually had some decent interior designs.

Not at all. The Kia has crisp lines while the Nissan has curves met with edges. if you feel the urge to compare it to existing models then wouldn't a Mazda crossed with a Lexus

I like it a lot. It's miles ahead of the snoozefest Altima, and Sentra

Could you imagine that exterior with the gray interior of the new Malibu?
*I will concede that at least the design isn't boring.

My opinion is that it looks like shit. That's just my two cents.
Here is how I think this was done.
1. Nissan designer goes to the bar to meet other women that aren't his wife.
2. Nissan designer gets drunk AF.
3. Nissan designer accidentally slips the roofie into his drink, instead of his not-wife's drink.
4. Nissan designer passes out, and wakes up several hours later behind a McDonalds on the other side of town.
5. Nissan designer gets shot in the knee by a real OG like Biggie or something.
6. Nissan designer does some bath salts, meth and pcp with Barney the dinosaur and Bill Clinton.
7. Then they all decide that he should design a car, despite his current state and that is what he does.
8. The new Nissan Maxima is born.

At least it looks unique and doesn't have a giant gaping maw grille like everybody else.
